{"id":18541,"date":"2013-05-28T06:35:23","date_gmt":"2013-05-28T11:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.shadowmanor.com\/blog\/?p=18541"},"modified":"2013-05-22T08:43:48","modified_gmt":"2013-05-22T13:43:48","slug":"rearwolves","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.shadowmanor.com\/blog\/?p=18541","title":{"rendered":"Rearwolves"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.shadowmanor.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/rearwolf-e1369224341369-179x300.jpg\" alt=\"Rearwolf\" width=\"179\" height=\"300\" class=\"contentimg\" \/>BoingBoing recently posted a ridiculous picture of a <a href=\"http:\/\/boingboing.net\/2013\/05\/20\/monster-made-from-taxidermied.html\">monster made from a taxidermied deer butt<\/a>, and my immediate thought was, &#8220;Huh; somebody had too much time on their hands.&#8221;  However, the comments soon made it clear that deer butt monsters are kind of a thing.<\/p>\n<p>They can also be found under the name &#8220;rearwolf,&#8221; &#8220;deer butt alien,&#8221; or&#8211;my favorite&#8211;&#8220;assquatch.&#8221;  They&#8217;re periodically available on eBay or from taxidermists with a sense of whimsey.  Redneck art connoisseur Don Burleson even provides <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dba-oracle.com\/t_make_deer_butt_alien.htm\">general instructions<\/a> for making one of your own, although you would need to already have a decent familiarity with taxidermy to make much use of them.<\/p>\n<p>Still, if you ever find yourself in possession of a deer butt that you don&#8217;t know what to do with, this would certainly be an interesting project.  (Or you could make the &#8220;doe bell&#8221; deer-butt doorbell, also showcased on Burleson&#8217;s site, instead.)<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re less ambitious, you could also follow the general guidelines and use faux fur instead.
