That we&#8217;re (at best) only shallowly familiar with the fannish thing or (at worst) simply pretending to be fans in order to wear revealing costumes.  Dork Tower encapsulates that mindset <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dorktower.com\/2012\/12\/04\/fake-geek-girl-dork-tower-04-12-12\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dorktower.com\/2013\/03\/12\/geek-speak-dork-tower-12-04-13\/\">here<\/a>, and Scalzi has a couple of the most marvelous takedowns <a href=\"http:\/\/whatever.scalzi.com\/2012\/07\/26\/who-gets-to-be-a-geek-anyone-who-wants-to-be\/\">here<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/whatever.scalzi.com\/2012\/11\/14\/when-gut-boys-attack\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Girl band <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thedoubleclicks.com\/\">The Doubleclicks<\/a> has released a song addressing the issue, and the video is just splendid:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"425\" height=\"239\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/s4Rjy5yW1gQ?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>You can buy the song <a href=\"http:\/\/thedoubleclicks.bandcamp.com\/track\/nothing-to-prove\">on Bandcamp<\/a> (or get the whole <a href=\"http:\/\/thedoubleclicks.bandcamp.com\/album\/lasers-and-feelings\">album<\/a>).
