It was done to promote <a href=\"http:\/\/www.krakenrum.com\/\">The Kraken Rum<\/a> (which, incidentally, has a marvelously gothy label) and featured hyper-realistic bits of kraken made from cake.<\/p>\n<p>As is typical of Miss Cakehead&#8217;s stuff, the baked body parts were: a) Highly ooky and b) Mainly beyond the scope of the home baker.  One exception is the bit in the photo above: I think it&#8217;s supposed to be a kraken mouthpart, but xJane likened it to a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sarlacc\">Sarlacc pit<\/a> and I can definitely see the resemblance.  That, I suspect, could be replicated by mere mortals using a bundt mold and fondant.<\/p>\n<p>Make your favorite bundt cake: I&#8217;m fond of Smitten Kitchen&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2006\/11\/ganached-guinness-goodness\/\">chocolate stout<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/smittenkitchen.com\/blog\/2006\/10\/lemony-persnick\/\">lemon<\/a> bundt recipes.  Frost as desired; if you&#8217;re doing a Sarlacc (which would be a fun centerpiece for a <i>Star Wars<\/i> themed-party) use a sandy brown color.  For squid parts&#8211;or, for that matter, a Pit of Hell&#8211;reddish-purple is a good choice.<\/p>\n<p>Make the fangs\/radula\/whatever-those-Sarlacc-things-were from fondant: Although it&#8217;s possible to make fondant <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cakeboss.com\/CakeStuff\/Tutorials\/MarshmallowFondant.aspx\">from scratch<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Wilton-Rolled-Fondant-1-Pound-8-Ounce\/dp\/B00086IFLM\/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&#038;tag=shadmano-20&#038;qid=1388091337&#038;sr=8-2\">store-bought<\/a> stuff is a lot easier to work with.  Roll it like clay, and affix each fang with a toothpick stuck into the back.<\/p>\n<p>Reasonably easy, and undeniably attention-getting.
