The Art of Darkness

Still Another Week of Link Dumps

July 7th, 2014 by Cobwebs

It’s time once again to clear out the backlog in my Link Dump folder by dropping them all in your laps. This week will be nothing but Link Dumps. Brace yourselves!

Are You Afraid of Bats? – So. Stinkin’. Adorable.

Tequila Mockingbird – Book full of “cocktails with a literary twist” including “A Rum of One’s Own,” “The Count of Monte Cristal,” and “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margarita.”

“Leather Bound” Book – Easy tutorial for making a good-looking prop book.

Eeriest Abandoned Amusement Parks – A brief roundup.

Bleak Movies Coloring Book – Amusing “coloring book” which gives dark R-rated movies a positive spin for kids.

Your Organ Grinder – Etsy shop full of felted anatomical jewelry. Who wouldn’t want a gall bladder brooch?

The Artist is Going to Hell – “Vampire Jesus” explains a whole lot.

Baked in Blood – “Black Metal” cookies with names like Blood Ritual and Pervading Evil. Yum!

The Scary Ham – A very surreal anecdote by Ellen Klages.

Moody Night Scene – Neat little haunted house by I Draw Air Conditioners. (Hat tip to Sisifo)

Re: Tequila Mockingbird: It was bound to happen some time.

Man, that Land of Oz themepark is just begging me to head out there in costume for a dark-Dorothy photoshoot.

I love the idea that chanting “Bloody Mary” in front of a mirror gets one free breakfast alcohol, but not quite as much as I love the image of Jesus reacting to sunlight and crosses.

The Scary Ham is simultaneously the exact reason I should not read this blog at work and something I will very much miss out on because my parents moved after high school. Maybe there are nooks of weirdness in mom’s new place, but I would’ve liked the opportunity to meet the witch who lived in the basement of the old house. [Note: my father is dead, but they were together when he died. That said, the house my mother chose when they moved was very much always her house, causing much confusion among my friends when I said I’d be going to “Mom’s house”, seemingly implying that it wasn’t also my father’s.]

    Yay for Vampire Jesus!
