Doctor Who superfan TheTARDISGuy203 cut together footage from the William Hartnell era, set it to music from the Nightmare on Elm Street reboot, and created a pretty decent faux trailer for a horror movie.

The book City of Shadows: Sydney Police Photographs 1912-1948 is a collection of period mug shots from the early part of the last century. Viewed through the filter of time, the results are haunting. (I don’t know what F. Schmelz there did in 1930 to get himself arrested, but the guy creeps me right out.)

The a time to get site has posted some images from the book, and a bit of googling–I was trying to find out what F. Schmelz did do–also turned up several more images and an essay at SCAN. These latter appear to be taken from the original police files instead of from the book.

These shots are an unusual source of inspiration for art or period photography. A collage of them would be an interesting wall display. I’m sure that in their time many of them were Very Bad People, but at this remove they seem almost ethereal.

Saki’s (H.H. Munro) short story The Open Window has long been a favorite of mine. Future Shorts has done a video adaptation.

	Spiderweb Gate This is by UK company Art of Metal, who have a lot of other neat pieces like this fairy mirror.
	Call of Cthulhu 1) I think this is an excellent name for a seafood dish and only regret that betentacled things don’t feature in it more heavily. 2) I kind of like the idea of ol’ H.P. having an aneurysm at the dilution of his creature.
	Goth Nails Assuming you have very steady hands, there’s a tutorial for this nail art here.

The indie-folk group SHEL did a neat, weird cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman that turns it into a creepy lullaby.

Blumhouse has a roundup of lesser-known “really scary” horror movies which mentions the terror anthology Dead of Night. The stories were all written by Richard Matheson, who was also responsible for the earlier Trilogy of Terror, which scarred many a childhood with its story “Prey.” Here’s the “Bobby” segment from Dead of Night (ignore Patrick MacNee there at the beginning; this video includes the last couple seconds of the previous story, “No Such Thing as a Vampire”).

Drew Daywalt’s horror channel is full of neat stuff, but for any parent who’s ever been convinced that baby monitors are creepy as hell, this one is particularly wonderful.
