I’ve mentioned a sneaking love of Steampunk previously; it’s Victorian style and little ratchety bits, which is an awesome combination.

Siouxzi Rodeman and Alan Donnelly obviously agree, since they themed their entire wedding around the idea. I love the level of detail involved in the effort: They had clockwork cakes, custom-printed ties for the groomsmen, and all kinds of great neo-Victorian accessories. They even got a bunch of broken watches from a local clock repair place and used the mechanisms in their costumes.

SEIBEI is an odd little site that peddles cartoony T-shirts (I like the Vampire Career Fair one–they’re right; there aren’t a lot of career choices for vampires). They’re also the headquarters for the Intramural Zombie Hunter League! Get patches, T-shirts (with optional blood), and membership cards, proclaiming yourself a proud member of the IZHL.

I’d sort of be tempted to list this affiliation on a resume, too. But that may just be me.

We’re nearly a decade into the 21st Century (and still no flying cars), so here’s something to muse on today: Would you have survived the Middle Ages?

Twenty Sided pondered this question a while back, and it was interesting to see how many of the commenters wouldn’t have made it without modern medicine.

In my particular case, assuming that my father hadn’t died of that burst appendix at age six, I’d have probably made it to adulthood. Unfortunately, I’d most likely have died during childbirth. Bummer.
