The Art of Darkness

The Last Link Dumps of Pompeii

August 30th, 2013 by Cobwebs

Unlocking the Truth – Heavy metal band comprised of 12-year-olds who have played together since they were 5. They will melt your face off.

Pirate Pancake Griddle – This cast iron skull-and-crossbones pancake mold is lovely. It’s a Kickstarter project that was only recently funded so the product isn’t available yet; I assume they’ll sell it at Captain Crepe, since the creator is the same guy.

Lord of the Rings Tarot – The fact that this is just concept art and not a thing I can buy fills me with grief.

The Skeleton Lake of Roopkund – Fascinating archaeological mystery in India.

A Hobbit’s Party – A somewhat, um, ambitious party theme for a four-year-old’s birthday. This would be a fun grown-up party too.

Till Death Do Us Part – Elaborate engagement photo shoot done in the style of a comic strip.

Babylon Vampire – Marvelously creepy automaton by sculptor Thomas Kuntz. (via Cat)

The Rouchomovsky Skeleton – Gorgeous miniature skeleton in a highly-detailed sarcophagus.

Damaged Wax Figures – Historical photo of some waxworks after a fire at Madame Tussauds in London, 1925. This is much creepier than it ought to be. (And would make an excellent Facebook banner.)

Tree Lobsters – The punchline makes an excellent point.

My next birthday would be my coming-of-age, if I was a Hobbit (I am not). You’d better believe I’m stealing those ideas.

Why can’t I be a bajillionaire so I can buy $365000 tiny gold skellingtons?

I sent your first link to a friend and apparently, he’s already a fan. Because how many African American black metal 12 year olds are there?

The skeletons!! I will never disrespect hail again.

“Perhaps the world’s first blood drinking automaton.” There are more‽‽‽ Will humanity ever learn not to invent this kind of stuff? We’re all going to be automaton food!!

I’m impressed by “fully articulated human skeleton[s]” since, when the skeleton is made of bone, it doesn’t stick together. So the “fully articulated” gold version must have something wrong with it.

Also, I did not know that about Hobbits, Pixel. Mine is, too. Now I feel like I should do something special.

“Babylon Vampire” is one of the greatest, creepiest things I have ever seen. I loved the picture of the damaged wax figures. And Unlocking the Truth are amazing. Why couldn’t I have been that cool as a 12 year old? I also never realized that hail is apparently deadly >:o
