The Art of Darkness

A Link Dump for Ecclesiastes

August 9th, 2013 by Cobwebs

ROA – This street artist in Belgium does gorgeous “X-ray animal” paintings. (Speaking of X-ray animals, these are pretty awesome too.)

Events of The Labyrinth – A rather mind-blowing theory explaining the movie’s plot.

Never Ending Night – Art/science project (currently looking for funding) which aims to make a live feed of the starry night sky available online 24 hours a day.

strangeling – Jasmine Beckett-Griffith does unusual, surreal takes on fairy-tale princesses and other legendary figures. This is the most whimsical little version of Durga that you’ll ever see. (You can also purchase some originals if you’re feeling spendy.)

Dish Wish – Scrub brush shaped like a fairy’s wand.

Satanists to Adopt Highway – Proof that cleanliness is not necessarily next to godliness.

Hijinks Ensue Sketch Drive and Scholarship for Dollarship – For a mere pittance, Joel Watson will draw things for you and Benito Cereno will give you long answers to obscure questions.

Bela Lugosi’s Birthday – New Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi was lead singer in a punk rock band called Dreamboys (whose drummer was Craig Ferguson). Here’s one of their songs.

Octopus Chair – This is astonishingly gorgeous, and I don’t even want to guess what it would cost. (Hat tip to Sisifo)

Funeral Meat – Show this sculpture to your relatives at Thanksgiving and I guarantee they will all want tofu for dinner.

I am in love with the wolf/Riding Hood cut out! (It’s not on her Etsy site and I can’t decide if I want to commission another for $100. Where would I put it? Who cares? It’s amazing!)

That Labyrinth theory blew my mind. I love fan theories like this (have you seen the crazy Pixar one? Did you post it?

Can Never Ending Night stream directly into my office? I want a window into space like Picard has in his ready room. Slow moving, but moving, stars that drift slowly past my viewport throughout the day/week/year…

“Whimsical Durga”. My new cover band.

The Satanic temple has been doing some incredible things lately (and yes, I count posthumously turning someone’s mother gay as “incredible” on many levels and fully support it when that someone is a Westboro). Good for them.

Do I love the thought of a chair with a cape? Yes I do.

If you don’t stop posting about Labyrinth, I will be forced to wear my Jareth costume again for Halloween, and then I will become upset when people think I’m Rod Stewart.

I’ve never watched Labyrinth all the way through. It was playing in the ER late one night when I had to go in. I remember wanting to finish it, but they called me from the waiting room and I was so disappointed. I really need to watch it now.
My girls LOVE doing the dishes. I should buy them that scrubber to say thanks. Am I horrible if I use it as a stocking stuffer?
