Twenty Great Silent Horror Films Online

October 2nd, 2013 by Cobwebs

Flavorwire has a roundup of classic silent horror movies that are available online for free. Many of these were seminal influences for later works of horror, including the dreamlike The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari and the not-even-slightly-sparkly Nosferatu:

These would be great to play in the background at a Halloween party, particularly one with a vintage or movie theme.

There’s a couple bars here in LA that play black-and-white or silent films on one or another wall (one is a steampunk bar that basically just plays Metropolis on repeat; as much as I heart Metropolis, I want to buy them a DVD of Other Steampunk and/or Silent Movies) and it really lends to the ambiance. This is fantastic idea to adapt to home parties.

Thanks for this. I’ve actually never seen any of the ‘classics’ even though I know about them. I’m watching Nosferatu right now and about every minute or so there’s another scene that i can remember being done in another movie so this is highly educational as well as fun.

On a side note… was that a hyena werewolf?
