The Art of Darkness

Oh No! It’s Another Week of Link Dumps: Day 5

November 27th, 2015 by Cobwebs

Regular posting and once-a-week link dumps will return on Monday. But you already knew that.

Ghost Nail Art – Neat manicure idea featuring a 3D ghost face and hands.

Off to Battle – Michael Tapson and his daughter created Halloween costumes based on their “vision of a machine-animal hybrid and the little girl it protects.” The costumes are amazing and the implied backstory is tremendous. You can see an earlier video of the “Beast” costume on Tapson’s channel.

HorrorNaments – Christmas ornaments depicting things like bloody axes and vampire bats. (via Spooky Moon)

Mummy Cat – Sweet children’s book about a cat who was mummified with his queen, waking up once a century to see if she’s come back yet. io9 has some pages.

Angela Kirkpatrick – Profile of a jeweler who makes modern memento mori and other memorial keepsakes.

Gifts with Meaning – Suggestions for charities you can donate to in lieu of giving someone yet another necktie. Mentioned here because one of the options is sponsoring one of those giant rats that are trained to find land mines. Who wouldn’t want the gift of a giant land mine-sniffing rat?

Friday the 13th Wedding – This all-black wedding is gorgeous.

Selections From H.P. Lovecraft’s Brief Tenure as a Whitman’s Sampler Copywriter – “This eerie candy will test the sanity of all but those who possess the strongest of constitutions.” (via Burning Prairie)

Momentous – A PostSecret-like site which allows you to share “that day when everything changed” (for better or for worse) with the world.

Shirley Jackson’s House Hunters – I’d watch it.

Some of the comments on the Hill House send up are pretty funny, too. Also? I want to do over on my wedding.
