    Most mammals have the same number of vertebrae, they’re just scaled appropriately (the ones giraffes have are HUGE). A centaur is clearly a mammal and has most of a horse’s spine and most of a human’s. So do they have extra bones, or are they scaled up in size? Wouldn’t that change the physiology of both halves?
