He Sees You…
Here’s an easy idea from The Anticraft: Festive eyeball ornaments!*
Their instructions call for making the eyes out of polymer clay, but you could get a fairly similar effect more easily by just painting eyeballs on round white ornaments.
You could do a whole treeful of different eyes: Reptilian pupils, Eyes of Sauron, yellow zombie eyes, bloodshot monster eyes…you get the idea. Embellish with fake-fur “eyelashes” or whatever adornment seems appropriate and your tree can watch your every move.
*Eyeball ornaments are festive, right?

Of course they’re festive! My blown-glass eyeball ornament from Halloween tends to end up on my haunted mini-tree, but it has been looking a bit lonely as a singular peeper. I would imagine effects contact lenses would be a great source of ideas (I like the suggestions you mention and I’ve seen contact lenses along those lines). I may try making some of these as I was already planning on turning some little orange glass ornaments into jack-o-lanterns, and I think some tiny santa hats will top them. Thanks for pointing this idea out!

I love the Anticraft. One of these days I’m going to get my rear into gear and see if I can’t submit a knitting pattern to them.
