The Art of Darkness

Another Dumb Week of Link Dumps: Day 4

October 1st, 2015 by Cobwebs

Creepy Skulls Slouchy Hat – Ravelry crochet pattern for a skull-covered hat.

Pretzel Screams – Super-easy idea for a party treat. I’d never really thought of a pretzel as looking horrified before, but it turns out that if you give them eyes they totally do.

Gemma O’Brien – Artist spotlight of some of O’Brien’s work. She does gorgeous, intricately-detailed illustrations. (Hat tip to Guilherme)

Extraordinary Tales – An animated anthology of five of Poe’s short stories will be released on October 23. The article says that each story is narrated by a different actor, including Christopher Lee, Roger Corman, Guillermo Del Toro and Bela Lugosi, but since a couple of those guys have been dead for a while I’m assuming that “narrated” in this case means “using old recordings.”

Crazy Bonez – Good-looking skeletal animal props. Spiders may not technically have skeletons but we’ll ignore that fact for now.

Neil Gaiman on Banned Books – An interview with the author.

Arachnophobia – “Performance art” clock intended to remind us that “time creeps up on us all.” Whatever; it’s a clock shaped like a spider.

Ice Skull Molds – Molds that make 3D skull-shaped ice cubes. You’d have to start making them a month in advance to have enough for a party, but they’re neat anyway.

Li’l Ghost Garden – Serene little desktop game in which you direct a ghost to tend a virtual garden.

All the Best “Straight Outta” Submissions – io9 has a roundup of science fiction/fantasy-themed “Straight Outta” album covers. The Alien one is my favorite.
